This scholarship opportunity will allow a “legacy of learning” to enrich the teaching and acquiring of the skills needed by book historians. Thus, this scholarship will help keep our vibrant field of study not only alive, but very lively indeed. SHARP hopes to expand this initiative in future years to support the teaching and learning of book historical skills in other institutions worldwide.
For complete information about applying for this scholarship, please visit the RBS site online. If you are applying for a Directors' Scholarship you may be eligible for the SHARP-RBS Scholarship. Directors' Scholarship applicants will be considered for the SHARP-RBS Scholarship, so there is no need to apply twice. Terms and conditions are the same as those that apply to the Directors' Scholarship Fund.
Donations to the SHARP-RBS Scholarship Fund are being accepted by RBS. For more information about the fund and how you can contribute click here or contact Megan Gildea, Development Director, Rare Book School, at (434) 243-1010 or mgildea [at] virginia.edu. Thank you for your interest in RBS.
Digital Humanities Scholarships from SHARP
At its 2011 meeting in Dublin, the Executive Committee of SHARP decided to match our contribution to scholarships at Rare Book School (University of Virginia) with a fund to sponsor tuition scholarships for the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada). Several tuition scholarships are now available for paid-up members of SHARP to attend their courses June 6-10 2013. For details of the courses, please see http://dhsi.org/. Applications are to be made through the DHSI site at http://dhsi.org/scholarships.php. Students receive a discount on fees, so in the field that asks for ‘Institution/Organization’ please enter either SHARP-Student or SHARP-Non-Student as applicable. DHSI will liaise with SHARP to ensure that membership is up to date. Applicants who are unsuccessful in the scholarship competition might still be eligible for discounts on DHSI tuition fees.
