Call for Applicants: SHARP in the Classroom Editor

SHARP News is the open access newsletter for the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading, and Publishing. SHARP in the Classroom is our place to build a public network for teaching in our field, a place where we — instructors and students — can contribute, acknowledge, and record the work that we do in classrooms. This section of our publication publishes twice a year: January and August.

SHARP News is looking for a new editor to run SHARP in the Classroom for a period of up to 3 years. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pedagogy and experience teaching or facilitating workshops on book history subjects. The scope of this role will also include:

  • Soliciting materials, working with contributors to revise submissions, editing final drafts, and coordinating with the Editor in Chief to publish contributions on our website.
  • Curating relevant content and recruiting contributors, based on a thematic or chronological focus of the editors’ choosing.
  • Collaborating with the SHARP News social media editor for digital outreach, and other communications.

To apply, please email news@sharpweb.org a one-page application letter and CV (including contact information for two references) by May 16, 2022

We welcome applications from independent scholars; scholars working in galleries, libraries, archives and museums; as well as academics in higher education (community colleges, liberal arts colleges, or universities). We especially encourage applications from early career researchers (including graduate students), and particularly from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) individuals and women and gender minorities.
