SHARP News is very pleased to announce the appointment of Anushmita Mohanty, a final-year PhD Candidate in the English Department in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as our Editor of “SHARP in the Classroom”.
Anushmita brings a wealth of knowledge to the “SHARP in the Classroom” position: her present doctoral research examines the intersection of reading cultures and the history of education in the context of India from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. She is particularly interested in bringing book history into conversation with pedagogy and classroom practices, as evidenced by her forthcoming publications: “Using Zines to Teach Science and Technology Studies,” in An STS Teachbook: Recipes from Our Science and Technology Studies Communities for Critical Pedagogies in Undergraduate Education; and “Zines as a Queer Means of Production”, Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association. Anushmita’s editorial experience includes that of Assistant Editor for Studies in History in 2020–2022, and Genre and Translation Editor for Cream City Review, a position that she has held since 2025.
Please join us in welcoming Anushmita to the SHARP News team. We are very excited to see her vision for “SHARP in the Classroom” unfold, and to continue the excellent work of previous editors, Maureen Maryanski, Rebecca Baumann and Sarah Werner.
